Today, Pickles, Scraps, and I "volunteered" to do everyones burpees and run for them at the end of the practice. We started practice with shuffle drill then 3 on 2 catchup. After that us girl coaches had to do 17 burpees. Then we did a zig-zag defense drill. After that we did a shooting drill then scrimmagged. At the end of practice pickles scraps and i ran, then the kids shot and missed on purpose every time. Except the last shot was done backwards and was suposed to miss but it went in!!!! it was amazing!
EDITORS NOTE: Briana made the last shot backwards from the 3 point line! | | Approved |

today we mainly focused on defence, we did the zigzag drill and learned alot from the defencive perspective and quite a bit from the offencive side, we also played girble cage and everyone ganged up on me when i could only use my left hand. we then scimmaged and had alot of playing time cause there were 4 teams, 4 courts, and 4 coaches

Well for thhe first half of pratcice i wasn't there. At around the mid-way point of practice i walkded in and saw mellisa doing the same thing this week as last week, shuffling around the gym. We were doing 3 on 2 catch-up. Then we did fight for rebound. Coach made his shot and all the coachs that didn't do there review on time had to do the burpies (yay me). Then we did some shooting drills at each basket. After we did scrimmaging. And at the end of practice the run was reserved for the coachs who didn't do there reviews on time.

This week Pickles, Smurf and I did everyones burpies for them, and your welcome :). First off, we did shuffle drill. Then we moved out into 3 on 2 ketchup drill, which happens to be my favourite. Then we were split into groups and we did a shooting competition, but no worries, the three female coachs did allllll of the penalties for us♥. then we scrimmaged. Of course they didn't have to run at the end because us three girls raced eachother! It was interesting :P

|
This week I did everyones burpies for them ( with a little help from my fellow coachs who DID do their reviews :) ). We started out in gebil cage and soon we got to play in the full court chasing the coachs. Then we moved on to the 'zig-zag' drill. This drill taught us about defensive and offensive possitioning. We had a long scrimmage and then I raced Kronk during the prosprint.☼

This week none of the players had to do any penalties thanks to Smurf and I. We started out in the gerbil cage, and slowly progressed to the full court gerbil cage, chasing the coachs. after that, we played a game called 'zig-zag'. It's all about playing defense or offensive possition. We had a normal scrimmage and then Smurf and i ran for everyone!☼

To begin tonight's practice we did shuffling. After that we play 3 on 2 catchup. Then we did shooting, except Scraps, Smurf and Pickles had to do the burpees for the loosing teams.. and trust me... our arms were soar!!!! Then we scrimmaged! At the end was usual running... except that Scraps, Smurf and Pickles had to do the running because last week they didn't do their reviews on time! Once, when Pickles started running, she took two steps and fell on her own feet!! What s klutz!

Tonight we focused on shooting! To start we did our regular shuffling drill, but then we learned a new one: 3 on 2 catch up. This was good for our "help defense" and on shooting as well as passing. Then we did a drill where everyone was split into teams and we did 3 types of shots: Boardwalk, layups and free throws. Each from both the right and left sides. After this we did our regular scrimmaging and then practice was done! A bonus at the end of practice was that there was no running!

This was a fun night! We got to watch both the men's and woman's basketball games! Tonight. we watched the Carlton Ravens battle the Brock Badgers! First, the woman's game. The woman's team did an amazing job! They won every quarter which paid off seeing as they won the game! The men did the same. They won as well! The players on the men's team were very tall! They even made Kronk look short! For diner we got pizza! All in all we ate 600 pieces of pizza, 11 of which were eaten bye Daemon! That's a lot of pizza! It was a fun game and everyone can't wait to go again next year!! woot woot! Goooooooo Carlton!

when we showed up everyone got to get a seat and sit and then we handed out gatorades and we waited for the game, when the pizza came everyone eat way too much, im sure i had at least 10 slices and between brodie and alex there were like 2 or 3 pizzas split between them. we waltched the womens game and they did amazing. they won by at least 20 and got alot of easy baskets dispite broks decent defence. the mens teams warm up was the highlight of the night. Andrew (flipper) and i waltch from the corner of the court while the carleton mens team were doing all-oop dunks and windmills, and im sure i saw a couple of dunks from at least 10 feet out! when the game started it was fun to waltch mainly because the coaches didnt have to get up and dance because they didnt play music inbettween periods and time outs. the guys team won by 30 or 32 and were up the whole time, alot of mostly bench players got a good 20 min playing time because carleton was up by so much, lets hope they can do this during the C.I.S. tournement this year!!!

this practice we started with shuffel drill and because melisa wasnt quiet she had to do 12 laps extra and around 60 burpies, we then learned 3 on 2 catch up and then scrimmaged | | Approved |

The Carleton Ravens played an awesome game against the Brock Badgers. The women's team did really well, they won every quarter! there was a lot of rivalry going on when the men's game was being played. Last year, the Ravens lost to the Badgers. This game, we not only won but about 4 players on the Badger's team fouled out! Coach Craig made all of the coaches dance when music was on. I didn't find that very fun. Have a great week everybody and see you all next practice.

This week's practice we warmed up with shuffle drill. Then we did 3-on-2 catchup. Melissa wasn't listening so she did about 12 laps of shuffle drill and like 62 burpies. Then we scrimmaged for the rest of the practice. The players ran at the end of the practice, and Austin shot the basket that ended the night. Remember that there is no practice on December 5.

When we got there we handed out the tickets and had our pizza party! The coachs and some past coachs handed out the pizza from pizza pizza. Coach almost yelled out at everyone to keep eating until hey exploded. Scraps took a pizza for later. The women's game was exiting. Carelton won by like 30 points i think against brock. At half- time during the mens game shandon, jackson, and some other junior group people with their shirt on went to the center and played musical chairs! i can' remember who won. Carelton mens won against the brock mens team.

Ok for this practice we started off by doing shuffle drill. Then we went into three lines at the end of the gym by doing 3 on 2 catch-up. But it turned out that mellisa was so tired. She then proceeded to do 12 laps of shuffling and 50 burpies. After we did a thingy (yes high tech words) were the hole group held hands and had to score on the far basket and then the other until they made 2 buckets. We then did shooting skills. After we did scirmmage and ran. Austin made a three-pointer on the first person to try.

This week St.Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School hosted a wheelchair basketball tournament to raise money for one of their students, Justin McKenna, raising money for equipment for his recovery. Three schools participated; St.Tomas, Embrun High, and Russell High. The first match was Embrun High vs. STA, in the end Embrun High won. The next game was Russell High vs. Embrun high. In the end of that match Embrun won... AGAIN! GOOD JOB! Embrun High was unstoppable! The last game of the day (for the schools) was STA vs. Russell High. Russell won that game. In the end of the tournament, they raised over 7,400 dollars for Justin. In the game with Russell and STA, Justin got out on the court and played! It was great to him play! The teams all had fun, and it was for a good cause too. I think everyone would be delighted to take part in another event like this in the future!

At thins practice we also had 4 people that came out to to teach the players more about wheelchair basketball; Corey, Brittany, James and Dax. At the beginning of the practice the coaches played against the wheelchair players. Scraps was so excited because she scored the only basket! GOOD JOB SCRAPS!! After that they demonstrated how fast they could move in the chairs, it was amazing because they could move faster in a wheelchair than some could running! After that everyone scrimmaged with one of the players on the team!

This was my personal FAVOURITE practise : ) . We got to play with real wheelchair players! We started off by asking LOTS of questions about what happens when you fall out of the chair, and about how Cory ended up in his Chair. Then they thought it would be funny to embaress the assistant coachs in a game, but we showed them! We finally got it together and managed to score one point (i got the basket of course♥)! Then they played with all of the players and taught us how to play the right way! At the end of practise, lots of players were tired, including Cory who started a story time for the players on the side lines :) . Thanks for coming out guys!

This week was the best yet! Coach got real live wheelchair players to spend the day with us teaching us how to play.We started the day by asking the players questions. Then they asked if it would be all right if they embaressed the assistant coachs! And did they ever. We lost something like 10 for them, nothing for us! It was lots of fun! Then All of the players got a chance to play side by side with them. It was a great week. Special thank to the players, James, Brittany, Dax and Cory. and to Coach who helped get them out here! ( :

This week's practise was an awesome way to end wheelchair basketball. We had four special guests: Cory Smith, James Marshall, Dax of the red hair, Brittany Cory's girlfriend. They came and shared their knowledge of the game withus. Then they challenged all of the coaches to a game. We lost sorely, about 5 to 1. We scored one basket and were very proud of ourselves. The kids then scrimmaged for the rest of the practise. Don't forget about the Carleton Game next week and that the last practise for this calendar year is December 13.

This was the last wheelchair practice this year. This practise was very special because we had Cory Smith, Dax of the red hair, James Marshall and Brittany, Cory's girlfriend. They came out and showed us some of their skills. These pros challenged the coaches to a game. So much to say, we got our butts kicked with the score at the end of the game being 7 for them and 0 for us. The kids scrimmaged for the rest of the practice with the pros helping out. All in all it was a great way to finish off wheelchair basketball. Don't forget about the Carleton Game next week and that the last practise of this calendar year is December 13.

This week's practice was the last wheelchair practice of the year. We had a special guest, Cory Smith, come out and play with us and show us how to play properly. Everybody asked him how he gets back up when he falls out of his chair. Even though I have seen him do it several times, it always amazes me to this very day. Cory was kind of tired because he had been the guest referee all day at the wheelchair challenge fundraiser for Justin McKenna. I believe that Coach Craig finally fell out of his wheelchair, making this a record 14 years that he has fallen out. Don't forget that next week is the Carleton Game.

On Friday there was a wheelchair challenge at STA that included Russell High School, St. Thomas Aquinas and Embrun. All the money raised is going to buy Justin excercise equpitment so his he will get bettter faster. Mrs. Mack, a teacher at STA, and coach Craig thought we would reaise about $2 000. We raised over $7 500!!! Our guest referee was Cory Smith, a member of the national team. Pickles and I played in the tournament, i fel out of the chair at least 5 times, but i don't think PIckles did at all. Oh yeah, i broke one of the spokes from Cory's wheelchair accidentaly. Coach Craig videotaped the tournament, so i'm sure you'll be able to watch me fall out of the wheelchair a few times:P. It was really fun and i'm very happy that we raised alot of money for Justin.

We scrimmaged for most of the practice but first we got to know Cory and more about wheelchair basketball. When we were scrimmaging each team got to play with and against Cory. It was very fun. As i am sure you all know, I fell out of the wheelchair at least 10 times over the course of the past few weeks. I am a clutz! Make sure to sign up for the Carleton game on the 22nd.

Saturday:
At the begging of today the coachs had to get to the school at 8:15 (PS i beat coach to the school). Daemon wasn't here because i don't why but we still had "fun" anyway. The first game to start off was exiting to start off the tournament. I can't remember to much because im so tired but 4 of the coachs fell asleep on the job.
Sunday:
Well today we had a longer time to do the tournament. Near the beggining the coachs did a little game but when people started to arrive we got back to work. The coachs got to play tody because some players didn't show up. i'd say the funniesty part about today is the fact that Smurf Fell off her wheelchair 6 times (yes i kept count). WE had another fun year at the tournament.

Pickles came to practice dressed as a cute, bright orange pumpkin. After a water break, the players were divided into teams for scrimmaging. We scrimmaged for the rest of the practice. Then we ran and did announcements. During announcements, the coaches all put up their hands and everybody sang Coach "Happy Birthday". Don't forget about the tournement and the Carleton Ravens Game.

We did a few drills today and did some scrimmaging at the end of practice. Then we did our running and announcements, When all of the coaches put up their hands for one more announcement, Coach ignored us because he knew what we were going to say, but he finally gave in and chose one of us. We got all f the players to sing "Happy Birthday" After that we all went home!

We ended the practice weith our usual running, but when Coach thought the announcements were done, he thought wrong! WE all sang Happy Birthday to him, THEN practice was done:)
